The door opened immediately, we couldn’t disengage fast because it was too late, and doing that would create suspicion. That was not the kind of impression I would want to make on the first day.

“I’m so sorry for interrupting you guys, I thought you were alone,” Bartholomew apologized and Theo’s hands left my hair as he created a little space between us, and he faced Barth.

“You don’t have to apologize, we were just having a harmless boss to bodyguard conversation,” Theo assured him. I turned to Barth with a smile, to see his expression and I could tell he didn’t look convinced, although Theo sounded casual.

“I see…” he replied to Theo. Theo must have felt awkward because he spoke again.

“She wants to dye her hair black, I’m not in support.” He explained, dipping his hands in his pockets and clicking his lips. Barth turned to me.

“And why is that? The red hair is perfect.” He noted.

“Conner thinks it is too loud for a bodyguard.” I replied.

“Mind if I put a word across to him on your behalf?” Barth asked and I raised my eyebrows up, questioningly. “Why would you?” I wanted to ask him.
