The Day My Son Tried To “Fix” The Sun - 1 month ago

Parenting will humble you in ways you never expect.

Last week, my five year old stormed into the living room with his toy toolbox, looking very stressed.
I asked, “What happened again?”

He pointed outside and said, “Mummy, the sun is too hot today. I want to fix it before it spoils everybody.”

Before I could reply, he marched to the balcony, raised his plastic hammer, and shouted, “Sun! Hold still!”

I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or join him. So I did all three. I laughed because he was serious. I cried because his heart was pure. And I joined him because parenting has taught me that sometimes, you enter their world instead of forcing them into yours.

We stood there “fixing” the sun together, him tapping the air confidently, me pretending to tighten imaginary screws.

Later that evening, the weather became cooler. He looked at me proudly and said, “Mummy, you see? We did it.”

And in that moment, I realized parenting isn’t about having all the answers…
It’s about showing up, holding tiny hands, and fixing imaginary suns until they grow strong enough to face the real world.
