Nollywood star Regina Daniels says she has shut the door on marriage after walking away from her union with politician and businessman Ned Nwoko, but insists her dream of expanding her family is far from over.

Speaking during a livestream with TikToker Jarvis at a Children’s Day carnival in Asaba, Delta State, the actress revealed that her priorities have shifted dramatically since leaving the marriage. While she is a devoted mother to her two sons, she said she now feels a powerful longing for a daughter.

According to Daniels, her experience of motherhood has reshaped how she views family, responsibility and her own future. She explained that she no longer sees marriage as a necessary framework for raising children or building a fulfilling life.

She stressed that her desire for a girl goes beyond simply balancing the gender of her children. For her, raising a daughter represents a deeper emotional and moral responsibility, one that demands a mother become the primary role model.

Daniels contrasted the way boys and girls often relate to their parents, saying sons can look to their fathers for guidance, while daughters tend to mirror their mothers. That, she suggested, places a unique burden on women to live out the values they want their girls to emulate.

Reflecting on her earlier views, the actress admitted she once vowed never to have a girl, but said the bond she now imagines with a daughter has changed her mind. She described female children as the ones who “remember,” hinting at the enduring emotional ties many women maintain with their childhood homes.

Daniels also spoke more broadly about gender roles within families, arguing that men often move on to build their own households, while women remain emotionally anchored to where they come from. That perspective, she implied, has influenced her decision to focus on motherhood rather than another marriage.

Her comments come after a highly publicised split from Nwoko, whom she married amid intense scrutiny over their wide age gap. The pair share two sons, but their relationship later descended into acrimony, with both sides trading damaging allegations before Daniels left the marriage and declared herself single.
