Eight years after revolutionizing the automotive world with its 1,500-horsepower successor to the Veyron, Bugatti has announced the completion and departure of the 500th and final Chiron supercar from its factory in Molsheim, France. This last pure-combustion Bugatti model, known as the Chiron L’Ultime (translated as “the last one”), stands as a remarkable epitome of luxury, engineering, design, and power.

The Chiron L’Ultime features a striking paint job that melds Atlantic Blue with French Racing Blue, creating a unique color transition that is different from the show car that debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The nose of the car is painted in deep Atlantic Blue, gradually fading into the brighter French Racing Blue. This blend of colors is accentuated by a panel on the door bearing hand-written names of significant locations in the Chiron’s history, such as Ehra-Lessien (where it set speed records) and Paul Ricard (a key testing venue). The significance of the vehicle is further highlighted by the number “500” emblazoned on various parts including the rear spoiler, wheel caps, rear quarter panels, and engine cover.

The interior of the L’Ultime is equally impressive, featuring hand-selected, hand-cut, and hand-stitched blue leather contrasted with blue-tinted carbon-fiber trim. The seat piping is stitched in red, white, and blue leather, symbolizing the French flag.

Technically, the L’Ultime is a Chiron Super Sport, powered by an 8-liter W16 engine with four turbochargers. This pure combustion engine delivers an astonishing 1,578 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. Despite its size, the Chiron's all-wheel-drive system and automated dual-clutch gearbox allow it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 273 mph, electronically limited.

Bugatti’s president, Christophe Piochon, emphasized the brand’s commitment to performance, craftsmanship, sophistication, and elegance. He remarked that the final Chiron is a masterpiece that encapsulates the car’s eight-year journey, filled with unforgettable moments and numerous industry-first achievements. This final model marks the end of an era and paves the way for Bugatti’s future, which includes the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral, and the unveiling of a new model in June.

While Bugatti has not disclosed the MSRP or the buyer of the L’Ultime, the last Chiron Super Sports had a base price of $3.7 million. Given its historical significance and the labor-intensive paint job, the L’Ultime is likely to be valued at $4 million or more.

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport L’Ultime serves as a breathtaking final tribute to the Chiron legacy, keeping enthusiasts eager for the debut of Bugatti’s hybrid V16-powered successor next month.
