The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made headlines by dismantling a cunning drug distribution operation that had the audacity to disguise illegal substances as festive Christmas cookies and snacks! This operation, which took place in Lagos, has been hailed as a monumental triumph in the ongoing war against drug trafficking in Nigeria.
According to NDLEA's Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, this drug syndicate was not just any run-of-the-mill operation. They were importing the notorious Canadian Loud cannabis strain, cleverly packaged in vibrant designer sachets that looked like your favorite holiday treats. This deceptive scheme was aimed at pulling the wool over law enforcement's eyes while luring unsuspecting consumers into their web of addiction.
The NDLEA operatives, acting on "credible intelligence" (as they claim), raided the suspects' hideout on Ojulari Street in Ikate, Lekki, and seized a staggering amount of these cleverly disguised sachets, along with a whopping 5 kilograms of cannabis! Talk about an impressive haul!
Two masterminds,Deji Adesanya and Olubiyi Majekodunmi, are now in custody, but the question remains: how many more are out there exploiting social media to reach the masses? The NDLEA is patting themselves on the back, but is this victory really enough?
Meanwhile, the NDLEA's lucky streak continued! In another operation, they apprehended a 38-year-old drug kingpin, Philip Ucheka, in Mushin, Lagos, who was caught red-handed receiving 110 pouches of Canadian Loud weighing 55.6 kilograms! And if that wasn’t enough, three vehicles used for distribution were also seized. The agency is clearly on a roll.
Officers intercepted additional drug shipments at various locations. In a bizarre twist, they found 100 grams of Loud hidden within a teddy bear imported from Thailand. Who would have thought? Not to mention, they also seized 548 capsules of tramadol, cleverly concealed inside Vitamin C and Magnesium bottles, bound for the UK. How ingenious!
In Oyo State, yet another arrest was made, this time a 55-year-old man with 8,000 ampoules of pentazocine and 590 bottles of codeine syrup. This occurred during an ordinary patrol on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Just another day in the life of the NDLEA!
In Ondo State, seven suspects were rounded up in the Ipe forest, along with an astonishing 3,077 kilograms of skunk. The suspects' names? John Ede, Ede Ndubuisi, and a few others,no big names here, but their haul certainly caught NDLEA's attention!
In Kogi State, a 49-year-old man was apprehended while transporting an eye-popping 649 kilograms of skunk. And in Badagry, officers seized 243.5 kilograms of skunk from a warehouse! It seems the NDLEA is unearthing hidden treasures all over the country!
More arrests were reported across Nigeria, including a man found with 137 kilograms of skunk along the Zaria-Kano road, and three suspects with another 209 kilograms in Bauchi! Is there no end to this madness?
In a series of bizarre incidents, the NDLEA has managed to arrest a couple with 725 rounds of ammunition hidden in a sack of maize.
