Peter Obi’s Movement To NDC - 2 hours ago

The recent move by Peter Obi to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s opposition politics ahead of the 2027 elections. After leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Obi, alongside Rabiu Kwankwaso, joined the NDC in search of a more stable and litigation-free political platform.

This movement is largely driven by ongoing internal crises and legal disputes within previous opposition parties, which Obi criticized as distractions from nation-building. He emphasized that the new platform offers a chance to focus on unity, development, and a more peaceful political environment.

Beyond just a party switch, the move reflects a broader attempt to consolidate opposition forces and create a stronger alternative ahead of 2027. With growing youth support and the momentum of the “Obidient” movement, Obi’s alignment with the NDC could reshape the political landscape and redefine how opposition politics is organized in Nigeria.
