THE USHERS - 10 months ago

As a cinema enthusiast, I have an eye for plot, a good plot.  I watched one that really caught my interest. The story goes like this:

“On the night of New Year’s Eve. Siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher, Fortunato Pharmaceuticals executives entered a bar after killing their business partner so as to have an alibi when the body is found and investigation begins. As they conversed, they met a beautiful bartender who introduced herself as Verna. By the end of the night, she offered the Ushers a deal. She told them they’ll live wildly rich and successful lives if they agree to a deal. “You get the whole world and when you’re done…your bloodline dies with you.” She makes it clear that she has the right to kill every Usher who exists at the time and every generation afterward. She will take them all and because the twins entered the world together, they’ll die together. They found the deal odd coming from a beautiful friendly stranger. Years of wealth and fortune, they thought. Why not?

They laughed at the offer but casually they agreed. They shook hand and as they walked out of the bar contemplating what just transpired, they turned their backs to have a look at the place and it was gone, vanished like it was never there.

The Ushers took the deal and forgot all about it until 40 years later when one by one, their children began to die in mysterious and cruel ways. As Roderick mourned the first death, he saw the black raven and he remembered their deal but it was too late. Verna (the raven) has come to collect. She took them all. Roderick and Madeline killed themselves and as their house collapsed to rubbles, Verna stood atop the ruins. The entire Usher bloodline was erased.

This is the tale of THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER (I love a good title)

Based on the short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe in 1839.

A true gothic fiction.

I love a good story and it had me thinking;

The siblings wanted nothing but power and wealth. The evil one was watching and when the opportunity came, a most sweet deal was offered. Years of everything they could’ve ever asked for or wanted but the price was their soul and that of their blood. 40 years of building wealth and more wealth, they lacked nothing but when the time came, their destruction came swiftly.

And it says what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? (Matthew 16:26)

But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed. (James 1:14)

Guard your heart!

The evil one watches, he lurks in the dark corners of your mind and when you give him an opportunity, he takes it and offers you a sweet sweet deal you cannot refuse. It seems harmless at the moment but before you realize, it’s too late.

When the devil wants to dance with you, you better say never because a dance with the devil might last you forever.

How much is your soul worth?
