He bought a rope,
To hang himself,
But doesn't want his body desecrated.
He bought a rat poison,
Drank it all,
And rinsed his mouth with water.
Then, he began to think about his life.
He was raised in hunger.
When others ran home to eat,
He dreaded his home,
For it was there hunger lived.
In the school days,
His father always comes to school,
To plead for grace, to pay his fees.
Students laughed at him,
Teachers insulted him,
Worms in him grumbled louder,
It scared him.
In the University,
He begged house to house,
For feeding.
Some laughed and asked him
“Are your parents dead?”
He nodded
For it was only a person whose parents were dead could be this wretched.
He has promised himself,
That he won't be a loser like his father.
But it looked like what fate had for him,
“I rather die than see my kids beg”
He told himself.
“I won't fail like this, I won't”
His stomach began to turn,
The wicked thing he drank began to bite.
Sharp pains struck him from the stomach.
But he didn't show pain,
He smiled and said,
“I did my best”
He laid on the cold floor,
As his life slowly,
Painfully
Fades into an abyss of silence.
