π UNSPOKEN β Costumier Chronicles π
By Maryjane Ilechukwu β One of the Real MVPs Behind the Glam ππ¬
Let me gist you small. You see this our Capstone film Unspoken? It wasnβt just a project β it was a whole cinematic experience wrapped in powder, sweat, and cruise. π
I was part of the costume team, not a one-woman battalion o! We all brought our A-game. While I was doing Itunuβs makeup to give βsoft girl healing energy,β others were busy prepping Femi to look like life had properly dealt with him. One person was arranging costume packs, another was holding the mirror like a backup dancer in a BeyoncΓ© video. πͺππ½
Now about that uniform... ah! π©
There was no supplier issue β it was pure vibes and sacrifice. I volunteered to βobtainβ my younger brotherβs school uniform, (because it's suit young Femi), and it wasnβt by force o okay, maybe small. I just told him:
βIf you want dinner tonight, your shirt better enter my bag!β ππ
I got home around 10 p.m. after dodging potholes and street hawkers like I was in Fast & Furious β Abuja edition. I carried that uniform like it was the last piece of suya on Earth. Washed it, ironed it, and folded it like national treasure. ποΈπ
π¬ On set? Everything clicked.
Femiβs outfit? Half-untucked, wrinkled with love, and sprinkled with just enough βstressβ oil to give βIβm tired of life but still fine.β
Itunu? Clean brows, powder puffed, lip balm glowing. At one point she asked, βDo I look beautiful?β I replied, βBabe, you're the reason the camera lens is shy!β ππ½ββοΈπ
My teammates? Absolute legends.
π©Έ Fake blood expert that made us scream βcut!β from shock.
πͺ Mirror-holders who didnβt blink.
π Touch-up crew that could find a powder brush in a blackout.
We moved like Avengers, but with makeup kits and needle threads. π
Even with a β¦10,000 shared budget (yes o, ten thousand flat!), we made it work like pros. No chaos. No disasters. Just team spirit, talent, and serious laughter.
π₯ Highlights?
β Someone used a cooler as a table (not me, I sit on dignity π).
β One guy shouted, βIβm bleeding!β β then we remembered it was just fake blood.
β Someone used compact powder cover as a mirror. When Itunu saw it, she said, βAh! Nollywood is suffering.β I told her, βBabe, this is innovation.β ππ π½
Big shoutout to Mr. Mikey for trusting us. May your red pen never run out of ink. ποΈ
To my teammates β una burst my brain.
To everyone reading this: Youβve officially joined the Unspoken crew!
π’ Like, comment, and drop a coin if you laughed β this powder isnβt going to restock itself π
Support student filmmakers. Support vibes. Support fine girl hustle.
Because guess what?
If the costume slaps... the film wonβt flop. ππ½π¬π π½
