Uncle Ben is the typical nice guy. He greets everyone, age regardless. He’s a barber in our area. I remember growing up; his shop was a regular with the kids. 

Why? He will play cartoons for us while we wait for our turn. The kids never wanted to miss out so they kept going to the back of the list, letting us go before them and even when we cut our hair, we would stay back until our parents come for us wondering what the hell kept us for so long. (Me wey love movies like kilode, that was my spot o). He's my dad’s barber.

When I became a big boy, I stopped going to his place for cuts. I had outgrown his hands I guess. We went to the younger barbers for the latest cuts and premium gist. The barbershop was a man cave.💯

Just got the news that his lifeless body was found in the next neighborhood last week. He was killed; it looked like a robbery attempt. The man closed late at night, I guess someone trailed him and tried to rob him. He resisted and he was killed.

He was running a degree, in his final year at the University of Jos. He has kids and was just trying to feed his family with legit business but the cold hands of death met him and took him brutally. The news came as a shock to most of us in the area. Everybody knew Uncle Ben.

I get that everybody has to go some time but I didn’t like that he had to go that way. Brutally murdered and discarded by the corner. The streets are becoming something else, boys don dey get some serious mind these days. If they can take a life, there’s nothing eviler they can’t do. The times we are in.💔💯
