The Western concept of reincarnation is different from the East. The Buddhistic concept  is more punitive, that we are punished for our actions and even thoughts; resulting in consequential cyclic rebirths. The Western way is more ideological; on the surface it even seems purposefully merciful- with it one believes that earth is a colossal spiritual school, where incarnations are lessons and opportunity for the souls’ realisation and progression into (godhood)in the Western concept, and (nirvana ) with the East.

However, on closer inspection, one will discover a subtle nefarious underlying. Let’s see:

The short of it is most of us are forced by this (divine and impartial system)to incarnate on earth. There is really no freedom of choice be it here on earth or there in heaven. And the worst part of it is we can't truly die, because after our death we are still alive; it never seems to end, hence the meaning of samsara. We are literally created as the instruments for God's or The Source’s personal evolution and enrichment through our experiences as generational incarnates and individuals. The irony is, the moment we realize we are part of God/The Source, our individuality will be dissolved and returned back into the oneness where there neither you nor I anymore. In short, our existence is just to serve a creator with multi-personality split. It is a fantastic deal for God/The Source, but a hopelessly horrible deal for us.  Our existence might be highly meaningful to the creator but futile to us.

Do ponder on it philosophically.
