Willow: A New Player In Voice Recognition Technology - 1 month ago

A new player, Willow, is making waves with its iOS app that turns speech into text across various apps, offering a smooth and intelligent dictation experience. Originally built for Mac, Willow supports over 100 languages and adapts writing styles for different contexts—from emails to casual chats.

Unlike competitors such as Wispr Flow, Willow features a full keyboard for quick edits and seamless switching between typing and voice input. Founded by Stanford dropouts Allan Guo and Lawrence Liu, the company pivoted from healthcare tech to voice AI after seeing the potential in dictation tools. Built on Meta’s Llama models, Willow focuses on personalization and natural formatting.

Backed by $4.5 million in funding from investors like Alexis Ohanian and Dharmesh Shah, Willow aims to expand to Windows and Android. Competing with Wispr Flow, Monologue, and others, Willow stands out for its blend of smart transcription, editing ease, and cross-platform potential—positioning it as a key player in the future of voice-driven computing.
