THE WEIRDO'S JOURNAL I

Drunk deep in the wines of adventure, this weirdo decides to ease stress by climbing the Odim hill, Nsukka. As frightening as it might be hiking this wonderful hill, to garner experience. This weirdo thought nothing of his mother, who is always a stumbling block to his lust for adventure.

This weirdo finds climbing this hill funny. First, he walked on the rocky grounds, next, his hands were on the ground crawling up the hill as it began to steep vertically. Then, he was literally climbing to the summit.

The sight beneath the hill is breathtaking. The view is a gift, a wonder, a sight to behold. The enormous forest green canopies of trees spread as far as the horizon in the north. Above it is a white smoke-like cloud that was like white icing on a giant green cake. To the south, the beautiful green canopy is dotted with bright tiny coloured aluminum roofs, which are houses now as tiny as an ant in a human view.

Far ahead to the south is the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Its tall buildings dotting the far landscape, even the famous gigantic Abuja building is now the size of a Lego block.

The wind pressure marvels this weirdo. It is trying to blow his big shirt off his small body, or even blow him away from this hill. Looking down, no perch of land could be seen, not a sliver of the clay-brown-red coloured Nsukka soil that looks like the skin colour of a man close to albinism could be seen. They were covered completely under the green canopy.

The beautiful oxblood coloured rocks sitting on the summit like ancient guardians of the town. The weirdo guesses how old they are, fifty, hundred, thousands or even millions of years old. These lifeless smooth shiny rocks on this hill must have seen the soldiers from both sides during the civil war planning their strategy. It must have seen the culture at its prime, rid of the western influence. It must have seen men and women we refer today as forefathers, pouring libations to it, eating their new yams and enjoy their festivals

As the weirdo descends the hill, the beautiful view is slowly disappearing, tiny buildings are slowly turning into giants and the trees which were previously glued into a massive canopy are now giving way and the soil is now becoming visible. The weirdo is saddened, but adrenaline is pumping for there is a boundless earth to explore and he is sure his ink will never run dry and will always make sure the readers go with him.

I'll write to you soon on another wonder, till then.
