What do you ask? And how do you ask? This is something I just learnt from one of the wisest men who ever lived. He said and I quote “Ask for a fish, and you only get one; ask for a net, and you can catch dozens.”

Think about it for a second, if you ask for fish you get just one or two at most; country hard, but if you're clever enough to ask for a net, you've inconspicuously become a fisherman.

The wise man with this wit is Matshona Dhliwayo. I don't know about him, but I'm about to go into research about him and relate it you afterwards.

If you can recall, there's this quote that is rampant “don't give man fish, teach him how to fish rather”. Same thing can be applied to that of Matshona Dhliwayo.

No matter how much you want to give to me, I don't have an issue with that; please teach me how to do it. With that, I'll be forever grateful that someone has impacted my life with something helpful and meaningful.

Popular Nigerian Afro singer David Adeleke also known as Davido says “we rise by lifting others”. If I should comprehend that phrase, it means giving out to a person is super good, but teaching or empowering that person is best.

So I look at those who do help me in my trying times and I say to myself “what if they are no more?”.

Give a thought about it, let it sink deep
