When New Year Lost Its Magic Of Anticipation - 3wks ago

Now that the celebrations are over, I find myself noticing certain things that feel a bit odd almost as if the essence of the New Year celebration is slowly fading.
Growing up, there were unspoken rules we all understood. One of them was the “New Year hair.” If you made your hair for the New Year, you covered it until D-Day. You weren’t supposed to rock it before then. The unveiling was part of the excitement, part of the ritual.
But these days, it doesn’t seem to work that way anymore.
The Gen Z and Alpha generations are clearly not playing by those rules. Imagine making your hair specifically for the New Year, only to start rocking it days before the New Year even arrives. At that point, I’m genuinely confused excuse me, isn’t it supposed to be a celebration?
And it doesn’t stop there. Even outfits aren’t spared. You buy clothes and clearly announce, “This is for New Year,” only to turn around and see them worn before the year changes. The question then becomes: what exactly are we celebrating again?
It’s funny, but also slightly unsettling. Everything feels rushed, different, almost stripped of the anticipation that once made the New Year special. I can’t help but feel like something has been lost along the way.
Or maybe it’s just me.
Am I the only one who feels this way
