NSCDC Declares Man Wanted Over Kidnapping, Assault, Conspiracy - 1wk ago

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has launched a manhunt for a 30-year-old suspect, Abdulazeez Mohammed, declared wanted in connection with alleged kidnapping, assault, conspiracy and related offences.

The corps, through its National Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, announced that Mohammed, also identified as Abdulazeez Mohammed Musa in official records, is being sought over a string of serious allegations, including unlawful confinement and causing grievous harm.

According to the NSCDC, preliminary investigations link the suspect to a criminal network believed to be involved in abductions and violent attacks in parts of the country. While specific details of the incidents under investigation were not disclosed, the agency described the offences as grave and said they pose a clear threat to public safety.

Afolabi explained that security operatives have been placed on alert nationwide, with instructions to track, arrest and bring the suspect in for questioning. The corps is working in collaboration with other security agencies as part of a broader effort to dismantle kidnapping rings and curb rising violent crime.

The NSCDC urged citizens to assist ongoing efforts by sharing credible information that could lead to Mohammed’s arrest. Members of the public have been advised not to approach the suspect directly if sighted, but to immediately contact security authorities.

“Members of the public are hereby advised to remain vigilant and provide any useful information that can assist in locating the suspect,” the statement from the corps read, adding that all information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality.

Information can be reported at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, any state command across the federation, or through the nearest security agency. The corps emphasised that community cooperation remains critical in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes, and called on residents to pay attention to suspicious movements or unfamiliar faces within their neighbourhoods.

The declaration of Mohammed as wanted underscores the growing reliance on public intelligence in Nigeria’s security strategy, as agencies seek to bridge gaps in surveillance and response. The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and vowed that all those found complicit in the alleged offences will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
