The Say I Received My First Salary - 2 hours ago

I still remember the day my first salary entered my account. I must have checked my phone at least ten times just to be sure it was real. It wasn’t a huge amount nothing close to the big figures people talk about but to me, it felt like everything.

Before that moment, money had always come from somewhere else, parents, guardians, or the occasional support from someone who believed in me. But this time, it was different. This was mine. I worked for it. I earned it.

I sat quietly for a while, just staring at the screen. Not because of the numbers, but because of what they meant. It was proof that I could stand on my own, even if just a little.

The first thing I did wasn’t to spend it on something flashy. Instead, I bought something small but meaningful for myself—something I had always wanted but never felt justified asking for. It felt different this time. There was no guilt, no hesitation. Just quiet satisfaction.

Then I did something even more important, I sent a part of it to my family. It wasn’t much, honestly. But the response I got made it feel like I had sent millions. The prayers, the gratitude, the pride in their voices… that moment stayed with me.

Later that day, I realized something: it wasn’t about the amount in my account. It was about what it represented growth, responsibility, and the beginning of a new phase of life.

That first salary didn’t change my life overnight. I still had bills, responsibilities, and worries. But it changed how I saw myself. It gave me a sense of direction, a quiet confidence that said, “You’re getting there.”

And even now, no matter how much I earn in the future, I don’t think anything will ever feel quite like that first alert.
