BLOG POST: ADVANCED SEARCH TECHNIQUES
Topic: "The Effect of Social Media on Academic Performance of Nigerian Students"

For this assignment, I researched the topic above using 5 advanced search techniques different from those taught in class which were Keyword, NOT, Site, Wildcard, and Exclude.

1. Filetype: Operator
What it does: It helps you search for a specific file format like PDF, DOC, PPT.
How I used it: effect of social media on students filetype:pdf
Result: I got academic research papers and project works in PDF from Nigerian universities. This gave me credible data and statistics.

2. Exact Phrase Search with "
What it does: It searches for the exact words in that order.
How I used it:`"social media addiction" "academic performance"`
Result: I got articles that specifically discussed the link between social media addiction and poor grades.

3. OR Operator for Synonyms
What it does: It searches for either of the words.
How I used it: `social media OR "social networking" AND students OR undergraduates Nigeria`
Result: This gave me more results because it included synonyms.

4. Range Search with ..
What it does: It searches within a specific number or date range.
How I used it: `social media academic performance Nigeria 2022..2025`
Result: I got only recent studies and news from 2022 to 2025.

5. Related: Operator
What it does: It finds websites similar to a particular site.
How I used it: `related:nuc.edu.ng`
Result: I found other educational and research websites similar to the NUC website.

HOW I CAME UP WITH MY RESULT
I started with normal search but got too many irrelevant results. Then I applied the 5 techniques above. The `filetype:pdf` gave me academic papers. The quotes gave me focused results. The `OR` gave me more synonyms. The range `..` gave me recent data. The `related:` gave me more credible educational sites.

Conclusion: These advanced techniques helped me get quality, recent, and academic results faster than normal searching.
