Adut Akech Spills The Beans: Baby On Board - 1 month ago

Adut Akech experienced a vivid dream where her sister was pregnant, prompting her to reach out in the middle of the night. Despite her sister's reassurance, Akech began noticing other signs, like a sudden craving for oranges and extreme fatigue. These occurrences seemed to foretell a significant event in her life.

On the day that marked the realization of her pregnancy, Adut Akech vividly recalls the moment: "I was at the service center picking up my car with my trusty bag of oranges! As I drove home, a wave of nausea hit me." It was then that she understood she was the one in need of a CVS test. After taking five tests, the resounding result confirmed her pregnancy.

Akech, at 24, is younger than the average U.S. first-time mom. Inspired by her own mother, she envisions being a young mom to grow with her kids. She dreams of a big family, possibly four or more children, even open to six if twins arrive. Excited about her first child, she eagerly awaits their arrival, already halfway through her pregnancy. Akech finds pregnancy a mix of beauty and challenges, a whirlwind for both mind and body, an experience that can't fully be prepared for.

Akech humorously mentions feeling like there's a brick on top of her vagina, apologizing for her language but laughing it off. From battling exhaustion, insomnia, to evolving cravings, her pregnancy journey surprises her. Her desire to be a young mom comes from wanting to grow alongside her kids. Born in South Sudan, fleeing the civil war as a baby, and living in a Kenyan refugee camp for eight years, Akech's past shapes her present journey. She aims to instill values of kindness and hard work in her child, prioritizing independence over material things, despite her success in the fashion world.
