A Federal High Court has dismissed a fresh suit filed by Samuel Anyanwu over the long-running leadership tussle within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) concerning the position of National Secretary. The court’s decision effectively puts a legal end to the internal dispute that has lingered for months and generated divisions within the opposition party.
In its ruling, the court held that Anyanwu’s action lacked merit and failed to establish sufficient legal grounds to overturn earlier decisions on the matter. The judge emphasized that the issues raised had either been previously addressed or were outside the court’s jurisdiction, thereby striking out the case in its entirety. The judgment reaffirmed the position of the party’s recognized leadership structure.
The ruling has been welcomed by several PDP stakeholders, who described it as a relief and an opportunity for the party to refocus on unity and rebuilding ahead of future elections. Party leaders have urged aggrieved members to respect the court’s decision and work collectively to strengthen the PDP’s internal cohesion and political relevance nationwide.
