This week taught me that life doesn't always go according to plan.
There were moments when I felt like I had everything under control, and there were other moments when I just wanted to pause, take a deep breath, and ask, “What exactly am I doing?”
But somewhere between the busy days, unexpected situations, small wins, disappointments, conversations, and quiet moments, I learned a few things.
I learned that not everything deserves my reaction.
Sometimes, the best response is silence. Not because you have nothing to say, but because you have finally realised that protecting your peace is more important than winning every argument.
I learned that people can surprise you.
Some people I expected to show up didn't. Others I wasn't expecting much from showed me kindness. Life has a funny way of teaching us that we shouldn't always judge people by our expectations of them.
I learned that progress can be quiet.
Not every achievement will be loud enough for people to notice. Sometimes, progress looks like getting out of bed when you're tired, trying again after failing, choosing yourself, or simply making it through a difficult day.
And that's okay.
I learned that rest is not a waste of time.
There is always something else to do. Another message to answer. Another task to complete. Another responsibility waiting.
But sometimes, you have to stop.
You are a human being, not a machine.
I learned that I don't have to have everything figured out.
It's easy to look around and feel like everyone else is moving faster. Someone is getting married. Someone is starting a business. Someone is travelling. Someone is getting their dream job.
But everyone's journey is different.
I am learning to focus on my own path without constantly comparing it to someone else's.
I learned to appreciate the little things.
A good conversation.
A peaceful morning.
A meal I enjoyed.
A random laugh.
A message from someone I care about.
A moment when I realised, “Hey, I'm actually doing okay.”
Life is made up of these small moments, and sometimes we are so busy waiting for something big to happen that we forget to appreciate what is already happening.
As this week comes to an end, I may not have everything figured out.
I may still have questions.
I may still have things I'm worried about.
I may still be working towards goals that feel far away.
But I am learning.
I am growing.
I am becoming.
And maybe that's enough for now.
So, as I step into a new week, I want to carry the lessons with me and leave behind the things I cannot change.
Here's to a new week.
May we be kinder to ourselves.
May we recognise our progress.
May we find joy in the little things.
And may we remember that even when we don't feel like we're moving forward, sometimes, we're growing in ways we haven't learned to see yet.
What did this week teach you?
