Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi East have formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Jibrin Isah, known as Echocho, for re-election in the 2027 general polls, framing the pair as a joint ticket for continuity and consolidation.
The endorsement, conveyed in a statement by the group’s representative, Ibrahim Mohammed, followed a series of consultations across the nine local government areas that make up Kogi East Senatorial District. Mohammed said the decision was driven by what stakeholders described as Senator Isah’s “tangible and widely felt” projects, which they argue have boosted the APC’s profile in the zone.
According to the statement, Echocho’s interventions in education, agriculture and rural infrastructure have become central talking points in local political meetings and will serve as the backbone of the party’s campaign message in the run-up to 2027.
The stakeholders listed the donation of school buses, renovation of dilapidated classrooms and provision of learning materials as key achievements in the education sector. They said these efforts have improved access to schooling in remote communities and helped reduce dropout rates among children from low-income families.
In agriculture, the senator was credited with distributing farming equipment and inputs to smallholder farmers, a move the group said has enhanced productivity and provided a modest buffer against rising costs. Financial support schemes for vulnerable residents and targeted social intervention programmes were also cited as evidence of a deliberate attempt to cushion economic hardship.
Rural infrastructure projects, including the sinking of boreholes and installation of electricity transformers in underserved communities, were presented as aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which the APC frames around economic recovery, infrastructure expansion and social welfare.
“By showcasing these tangible projects, we are confident that the people of Kogi East will stand with the APC and President Tinubu to continue the journey of national development,” the statement said, adding that Echocho’s record had “made our job easier” ahead of the next election cycle.
Senator Isah, now in his second term representing Kogi East in the National Assembly, presides over a district regarded as a crucial voting bloc in Kogi politics. Despite public unease over the impact of recent economic reforms, the APC leaders insisted that the combined achievements of the Tinubu administration and Echocho’s constituency work would secure victory for the party in 2027.
