A former pastor of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Dr. Great Olalekan Martins, has publicly accused overseers of unfair treatment and financial misconduct during his posting to the Kabba region, a situation he says ultimately pushed him out of the church. In a social media statement, Martins claimed his stipend of ₦25,000 per month was subject to unauthorized deductions by a regional pastor, despite an instruction from General Superintendent Pastor William Kumuyi that such deductions should have ceased. He contrasted his modest pay with what he described as significantly higher compensation for other overseers, alleging greed and injustice in how he was treated.
Martins also alleged that efforts to escalate his complaints to the church’s headquarters in Lagos were frustrated by poor communication channels, including inactive contact numbers and unanswered emails. He said that even after raising concerns with a State Overseer, who he noted was related to the regional pastor involved, he faced demotion rather than redress. The account sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users highlighting broader discussions about clergy welfare and accountability in church leadership.
