The issue of indecency is becoming increasingly common among both females and males; no one is exempt. However, today my focus is on the female gender, not because men are innocent, but because this i speak as a woman, and also because I understand the pressure placed on us most especially in our today society.
Now, letβs talk about modesty.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, modesty comes from the Latin word modestus, meaning moderate or restrained. It is defined as the quality of behaving or dressing in a way that avoids attracting sexual attention. This definition is true, but to me, modesty goes far beyond just covering the body.
Modesty is power.
It is self-confidence.
It is self-love.
It is the ability to say, βNo. My body is my power. It is a temple gifted to me by the Almighty, and it belongs to no one else.β
Modesty is pride.
It is love.
Modesty is discipline.
It is the ability to control the urge to expose sensitive parts of the body simply because society has normalized it or labeled it as βbeing free,β βtrendy,β or βhaving vibes.β It is resisting the pressure that turns the human body into an object for public consumption, as though it were something for sale.
When we speak to young women about modesty, some say, βIf I cover my body, no man will approach me.β
But is that really true?
No.
A man does not need to see sensitive part of your body to fall in love with you. True love is not built on exposure or indecent dressing. Genuine love begins with respect, not lust.
Your body is valuable, it is not a product.
It is a diamond, rare and precious, not a stone available to everyone.
Modesty is power.
It is freedom.
It is peace.
And it should never be traded for any approval or trend
Ps:And when I talk about modesty of course I don't mean not being "fashionable" or "trendy,"I just simply means that you trend moderately.Without losing that power of yours.π₯°ππͺ
