I remember when my beautiful gown got torn. I loved it and didn’t want to discard it, but it was unusable. Then I thought, “Why not stitch it?” The tear was small, so I took it to my sister, and she expertly stitched it. The dress was wearable again, but I wasn’t entirely happy about the stitch because the dress was new. The stitch wasn’t overly obvious, so I continued wearing the dress.
However, we’re all imperfect beings who need repairs and stitches. To become better, we must keep working towards perfection. It’s a process of making, shaping, and mending. Sometimes we try to run away from this process because stitches can hurt. When we’re being corrected and criticized, we may feel unloved and looked down upon, and instead of growing, we stop growing and become undeveloped.
Despite this, stay and get stitched! Be open, ready to learn, and accept growth. Being corrected doesn’t mean you’re dull; it means you know a little more now. Just like stitched wounds take time to heal, it takes time for you to grow and become the best you can be. The first step is accepting your tears and the second is the stitching stage.
Meanwhile, to become better, start by opening up to God and letting Him highlight areas that need stitching – skills, talents, gifts, character, thinking, etc. You can’t do it alone; seek God’s help and guidance. He’ll send you to places and people who will help you. The stitching process will begin, and your tears will start to unveil and get stitched one by one. Embrace the process even when it takes time, and remain open to growth and transformation.
