Manchester City Faces Financial Breach Allegations: 10-Week Hearing Underway - 3 months ago

Manchester City’s hearing over alleged violations of Premier League financial regulations began on Monday. The club was initially charged in February 2023, following a detailed four-year investigation.

The Premier League claims that Manchester City breached financial rules between 2009 and 2018, specifically around providing accurate data about the club's financial standing, including revenue, sponsorship, and expenses.

City firmly denies all allegations, maintaining that they have provided a "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" to support their case. The club insists the accusations, which originally appeared in German publication *Der Spiegel*, were based on "illegal hacking" and taken out of context.

The Premier League also accused City of failing to cooperate with the investigation. Despite these claims, City maintains that the allegations are false.

Since the Abu Dhabi United Group took over the club in 2008, City has secured eight Premier League titles, numerous domestic cups, and the UEFA Champions League. The private hearing, expected to last roughly 10 weeks, is taking place at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London.
