🎯 GRASS OR GRACE?

📖BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 40:1-6
🔎📖 Isaiah 40:5 “ A voice says, “Cry out.”
   And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.”

What was so important that God wanted the prophet to shout it out loud? The prophet was to shout that all men are like grass and their glories like fading flowers of the field. He wanted the returnees not to feel inferior in the face of their heathen neighbours that seemed to be faring better. He was emphasizing the finiteness of all men and the fleeting nature of their glories or the things that people boast about. This message needed to be shouted because we humans easily forget, as we aspire and and acquire the things of this world. Do you understand that all men are like grass? Do you boast in grass or in grace?

👉🏽 BOASTING IN GRASS
Jeremiah 9:23 This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches.”

How many celebrities of the past decades are still largely remembered today? How many kingdoms of the past centuries are still wielding power today? The shocking truth is that they have been generally forgotten as the world chases after new idols. God still warns us today, not to hang our boast on worldly wisdom, physical strength and material wealth. These are like flowers that fade. Those that trust in them shall be stranded on the highway of life and they shall be disappointed in eternity. If anyone will boast, let it be that He knows the Lord and His saving Grace. Do you know the Lord? Have you found His grace! If not, then you are wearing a mask of grass.

👉🏽 BOASTING IN GRACE
2 Corinthians 12:9 “ But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

We are insured and assured by God’s grace. Like Paul, we know that we are sufficient unto nothing without God. We boast and declare our weaknesses that all may see that though we strive, we only thrive by grace. No matter what we are going through, we find our true faces and places only in God’s grace. This is our confidence to face the world daily. Though we, like all flesh, are grass, our glories shall not fade like the flowers, because we glory in Christ, who is our souls’ hope of glory here and in eternity. We shall soar on the wings of grace and we shall be fueled by grace through Christ.

PRAYER 🙏🏾
Glorious Father, Please deliver me from trusting in the flesh and the glories therein. Please give me a desire for the grace that turns ordinary people to extraordinary tools in Your hands, through Jesus Christ. Amen!
