"Beauty is pain" they say, but do we have to go through pain to feel beautiful? Is beauty really pain or the society made it that way? Was that how it was from the beginning?. These are questions that come to mind whenever I remember this clause.
Now I feel I can answer this question myself. For me, beauty is about being confident in how you look - accepting you for you. It's a feeling. There is beauty in satisfaction, because to be honest we all just wish to be in someone else's body, “I wish I had this girl's body type, I wish I had long hair, I wish I had well defined dentition like hers, I wish I were as tall as Tolani”. We say this either in our minds or out loud to close friends.
You're beautiful when you appreciate the handiwork of God in you.
This is the story of a girl, who was an introvert, never smiled in pictures, rarely took pictures, couldn't express herself, had low self-esteem, all because she was insecure about her looks. She tried fitting in but made it look like she wasn't. She was just a girl who sought validation about her appearance from others.
That girl died the day she started looking in the mirror, appreciating her looks and complimenting herself. Never caring about how "unfine" a picture was and focusing on the memories instead. You are beautiful just the way you are.Beauty is not pain to me, it's self-acceptance.
