Chapter 6: The Presence Behind
Oyinda spun around, but there was no one there. The air seemed to vibrate with an unseen presence, making her skin crawl. She tried to shake off the feeling, telling herself it was just her imagination.
But then, she heard a faint whisper in her ear… “You shouldn’t be here.” The voice was soft, raspy, and seemed to come from all around her.
Oyinda tried to run, but her feet felt heavy, as if rooted to the spot. The whisper grew louder, more urgent… “Leave now, while you still can.”
Suddenly, the lights in the room began to flicker, and the air grew colder. Oyinda saw a shadowy figure coalescing behind her, its presence filling the room.
She tried to scream, but her voice was frozen in her throat. The figure loomed closer, its darkness suffocating her. Oyinda felt herself being pulled into its void, consumed by an eternal shadow…
And then, everything went black.
When Oyinda came to, she was lying on the floor, her head throbbing with pain. The room was silent, the lights steady. But as she stumbled out of the hidden room, she knew that she had left something behind… something that would wait for her return…
Chapter 7: The Lost Chronicles
Oyinda stumbled back to her dorm room, her mind reeling with questions. What was the shadowy figure? What did it want with her? And what secrets lay hidden in the library’s depths?
As she opened the door to her room, she was greeted by an unexpected sight. Her roommate, Nalwanga, sat at the desk, surrounded by stacks of dusty books.
“Where did you get these?” Oyinda asked, her curiosity piqued.
“I found them hidden in the library’s storage room,” Nalwanga replied, her eyes shining with excitement. “I think they might be connected to the mysterious figure you’ve been seeing.”
As Oyinda scanned the titles, one book caught her eye… “The Lost Chronicles of Kabale”. The same book the whispering voice had mentioned.
With trembling hands, Oyinda opened the book, revealing yellowed pages filled with ancient text. As she began to read, she discovered a dark history… a history of human sacrifice, ancient rituals, and forbidden knowledge.
Suddenly, the lights in the room began to flicker, and the air grew colder. Oyinda felt a presence closing in around her…
Chapter 8: The Dark History Unfolds
As Oyinda read on, she discovered that the city of Kabale was founded on a site of ancient power, where rituals and sacrifices had been performed to summon a dark deity. The founders of the city had made a pact with this deity, trading prosperity for souls.
The Lost Chronicles revealed that every generation, a chosen one would be selected to be the vessel for the deity’s return. And Oyinda realized, with a chill, that she was the chosen one.
Nalwanga looked up from her own reading, concern etched on her face. “Oyinda, what’s wrong?”
Oyinda’s voice trembled. “I’m the chosen one. I’m the vessel for the deity’s return.”
Nalwanga’s eyes widened. “We have to get out of here. Now.”
But it was too late. The lights went out, plunging the room into darkness. The air grew colder, and Oyinda felt the presence closing in.
A faint whisper began to echo in her mind… “The time of return is upon us. Prepare to fulfill your destiny.”
Oyinda knew she was running out of time. She had to uncover the secrets of the Lost Chronicles and stop the ritual before it was too late…
