50 Students Out Of 303 Kidnapped Students Escaped In Niger - 2wks ago

Fifty out of the 303 schoolchildren brutally kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger state, Nigeria, have managed to escape and reunite with their families. This dramatic announcement was proudly made by the school authority, as relentless demands for the immediate release of the remaining hostages escalate, boosted by none other than a public plea from the Pope himself!

The escapees, aged between 10 and 18, reportedly slipped away one by one over the weekend, showcasing a remarkable yet distressing situation that underscores the severity of the crisis. Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Niger state and school proprietor, confirmed their return, asserting that the school verified their safety by contacting their worried parents.

However, let’s not get too carried away with this “good news.” A staggering total of 253 schoolchildren and 12 teachers still remain under the control of their captors, highlighting a dark and ongoing epidemic of school abductions in Nigeria. Yohanna did not hold back in expressing his concerns for those still missing, calling for urgent action to rescue them.

In a related incident, 38 worshippers abducted during a violent church attack in Kwara state have also been released. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq made this announcement, but details surrounding their ordeal and release are alarmingly scant.

The brutal assault on the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku town, which resulted in two deaths and multiple abductions, has reignited fierce debates about Nigeria's security.

Despite President Bola Tinubu attributing the release of the worshippers to the “efforts of security agencies,” he remained tight-lipped on the specifics of their release, raising critical questions about the effectiveness of Nigeria's security measures.

The ongoing plight of these abducted schoolchildren and worshippers resonates deeply across Nigeria and beyond. Families and communities remain enveloped in fear and uncertainty, demanding urgent action.
