“Two Hausa Bikers, One Igbo Passenger, And The Silence That Screamed Danger” - 1wk ago

I never really pondered on the insecurity flux that has been going on for a while until a few days ago. Many have used it in creating contents including funny ones. But this experience was beyond ‘just funny’, at least until it was over.

I was on a bike(okada) ridden by a Hausa guy. I was leaving a Wedding Hall after some work there and just about when we took the right on the first junction, another Hausa guy on bike as well, was coming from the left side of the junction and joined us on the right. He was carrying another Igbo man who was a bit older than I am.

The two Hausa guys greeted themselves in their language and started talking to each other. The both bikes were still moving, but at similar speed so that they could hear each other clearly. From time to time, the other Igbo man will look at me and I'll look back. He didn't say a word but I was certain we had the same thought in mind.

Not so long after, another Hausa guy moving in the opposite direction on his bike crossed, greeted them both and gave them a non verbal signal that literally screamed “Hope that's what you're up to?”

The bike guy that took me would have been more suspicious if he had charged way more lesser than the normal price, but that wasn't the case.

At the next junction, we took opposite directions with the other Igbo man. I wasn't at rest yet as I had started planning in my little mind, what action I'll take immediately we made an unfamiliar turn. Whether it was just a regular shorter path or the ‘path to death’, I made up my mind that I'll take action.

We didn't take any unfamiliar path, but we got to a lonely path of the regular route and it seemed like we were slowing down gradually. I was really worried but dared not show it. Someone was standing at the edge of the lonely road all alone, just staring at us as we slowly rode away.

I found myself reviewing my own life to see if I was worthy of God's approval. Only God knows why I took it too serious. We got past the lonely place and nothing happened. In a few minutes, I was at my destination and couldn't believe what I had just been through.

The insecurity is really something to be concerned of. Don't forget those little precautions that could save lives. Gratefully nothing terrible happened that day.
