Chapter 4: The Investigation Deepens
Detective Yang's eyes locked onto Rachel's, searching for any crack in her composure. She seemed to be hiding something, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
"I've done nothing wrong, Detective," she repeated, her voice steady.
Yang sighed, his mind racing with possibilities. He needed to dig deeper.
"Very well, Mrs. Richardson. But I warn you, I will uncover the truth. And if I find out you're hiding something..."
He left the threat hanging in the air, his eyes never leaving hers.
As he left the apartment, Yang couldn't shake the feeling that Rachel was involved in Mr. Richardson's death. But how? And why?
He decided to pay a visit to the mysterious organization that had raised Rachel. As he arrived at their headquarters, a towering structure on the outskirts of the city, Yang felt a sense of unease.
Inside, he was greeted by a receptionist with an unnerving smile.
"Can I help you, Detective?" she asked, her voice dripping with sweetness.
Yang flashed his badge. "I'm here to see your leader. About Rachel Richardson and her connection to Mr. Richardson's death."
The receptionist's smile faltered for a moment before she nodded. "Very well, Detective. Please follow me."
As Yang followed her through the winding corridors, he noticed strange symbols etched into the walls. The same hieroglyphics he had seen at Rachel's apartment.
Suddenly, the receptionist stopped in front of a door adorned with the same symbol.
"Your meeting is with... The Keeper," she said, her voice low and mysterious.
Yang's heart raced as he entered the room, unsure of what he would find.
