SUMMER'S POV

“Breakfast is ready,” I informed him after knocking on his door and he mumbled something I didn’t hear. “Did you say something?”

“Be down in a minute,” he replied immediately and I left. I was glad he didn’t open the door, I didn’t think I was ready to face him yet. 

We ate breakfast in silence because I was short of words to say to him. He didn’t make things awkward either and I appreciated it. 

After breakfast, he announced that he would be leaving so I took the opportunity to thank him.

I was only beginning when three uniformed men barged into the house, we were both standing by the door since he was already on his way when I stopped him. 

So, when the men pushed the door and forced their way in, I shoved Conner behind me and stood protectively as the owner of the house.

“Who are you?” I asked firmly

“What are you doing here?” Conner asked them without allowing them answer my question.

“You need to come home with us,” the man in front who seemed to be the leader spoke and I turned to Conner, is his life so messed up that every day, uniformed or masked men come after him? I wondered inwardly

“I told you the last time, I am not coming with you,” Conner answered gritting his teeth 

“Look, I know you made it clear the last time and I am sorry we are here again but this is urgent,” 

“No, I don’t think seeing my grandfather is urgent, tell Miller that I am not stepping my foot in his estate ever.” Conner said firmly before turning around to go back into the house and I got ready to chase the intruders out
