Let It Shine! - 1 year ago

During my secondary school years, a classmate told me, 'Continue being a good person, and you will suffer.' This made me so hardened that I began to question if being good was ever worth it. I started to think she was right. She sounded vague, but I don't blame her, as that's the reality. Being good nowadays is old-fashioned, and it's strange to see people opting to be good. To the extent that you just hop on the train and do what everyone else is doing - the so-called norm.

You hardly see people doing the right thing. If you try to, they laugh at you and isolate you, even giving you names like 'Mr. or Mrs. Perfect.' In schools, homes, markets, and even churches, the norm is 'do me, I do you.' Sometimes I question if there's any gain in doing good, considering the struggles in the country, not to mention the hate that comes from the same people you try to love.

I once wanted to quit because it's always hard for people to reciprocate love, but when it comes to hate, we're ready to give it back to back. However, here's the thing: love is the greatest. While we feel inclined to love only those who love us, the Bible says otherwise - to love even those who hate you.

So, being good is never old-fashioned; it's the best way to live. Keep doing the right thing. There's nothing beneficial about being bad; it only makes you pathetic and miserable. Yes, it's hard, but it's making you into a great, unbreakable person. Let your light shine.
