Once the chicken was ready, i carefully removed it from the pot, patting each piece dry. Then came the fun part: coating the chicken. I dipped each piece into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture again, ensuring they were perfectly coated. The coated chickenwas placed in the refrigerator for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
Meanwhile, i heated oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Knowing the key to a perfect fried chicken was getting the oil just right – hot enough to cook the chicken through, but not so hot .
When the oil was ready, i took the chicken out of the refrigerator and carefully lowered three or four pieces into the pan. The oil sizzled as the chicken began to fry, turning a beautiful golden brown. Watched closely, turning the pieces to ensure they cooked evenly on all sides.
Once the chicken was perfectly fried, i transferred it to a plate lined with absorbent paper to soak up any excess oil. I couldn't wait to taste it. With a satisfied smile, i took a bite. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, just like i hoped.
I knew i nailed it. Serving the chicken to my family, their delighted expressions confirmed what i already knew – i had successfully made a delicious homemade KFC chicken.
