Growing up, I heard the phrase, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift." That's is why it’s called the present. Frankly, it didn’t mean anything to me. I couldn't care less aout it because it was overused and became more cliché than pioneering, but—oh yes, there's a but! It’s true.
I understand what the quote meant, and I just might have a little something of mine to add to it. Yes, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a present; the present is a special gift because it gives me the chance to write my own story and to decide what goes down in history about me.
What do you think when you read about the most notable men and women in the annals of history? I’d bet you admire their achievements, and in admiration, reflect on how you could do the same. Have you ever wondered how they’d feel knowing their achievements inspired others to be better? Your actions can have the same effect on people, too. And it starts with being mindful of the legacy you'll leave behind from the choices you make today. If they could do it, so can we. It's time to make history!
