PROFESSIONAL SCRIPT
SCENE 1
INT. CLASSROOM – DAY
The classroom is half empty. Several chairs are empty. Papers and notebooks scattered.
CHISOM stands at the front, holding a notebook. He looks frustrated but trying to stay calm.
HESTER, PHOEBE, and ANTUANET sit together.
CHISOM
(looking around)
So… this is the “complete group,” right?
He gestures dramatically to the empty seats.
PHOEBE
(smiling awkwardly)
Maybe they’re coming?
Silence.
ANTUANET
(checking her phone)
I texted them. Blue tick. No reply.
HESTER
At this point, even ghosts would attend better than them.
They laugh lightly.
CHISOM
(frustrated but controlled)
Guys, this is a group assignment. If we fail, we fail together. But it’s not fair that only four people are doing everything.
Beat.
PHOEBE
So what do we do?
CHISOM
We go to the lecturer. We’ve tried calling. We’ve tried texting. Let’s do it the right way.
The girls nod.
They pack their books with determination.
CUT TO:
SCENE 2
INT. LECTURER’S OFFICE – DAY
The office is quiet. Books neatly arranged. The LECTURER sits behind his desk, serious but calm.
The four students stand respectfully.
CHISOM
(nervous but brave)
Good afternoon, sir. We came because some group members haven’t been participating.
LECTURER
(removes glasses)
Hmm. Not participating how?
ANTUANET
They don’t attend meetings, sir.
PHOEBE
They don’t respond to messages.
HESTER
And submission is close.
The Lecturer leans back.
LECTURER
You see… group work is not just about marks. It’s about responsibility.
He stands.
LECTURER (CONT'D)
Bring the whole class tomorrow. I will address it.
The students exchange hopeful looks.
SCENE 3
INT. CLASSROOM – NEXT DAY
The classroom is now full.
The Lecturer stands in front. CHISOM and his group stand beside him.
The other group members look guilty.
LECTURER
(firm)
I have been informed that some students are not contributing to their group assignment.
Silence.
LECTURER (CONT'D)
Let me make this clear — in the industry, if you don’t do your part, the production suffers.
He walks slowly across the room.
LECTURER
In real life, nobody will chase you to succeed. Responsibility is personal.
One of the absent members raises a hand.
STUDENT
Sir… we thought they would handle it.
The class murmurs.
CHISOM
(calmer now)
It’s not about handling it. It’s about teamwork.
Beat.
LECTURER
From today, each member will present their own contribution.
The guilty students look shocked.
LECTURER
(smiles slightly)
Let’s see who truly worked.
The class becomes serious.
Chisom and his group exchange satisfied looks.
FINAL SHOT
The group sits together, now joined by the previously absent members, working seriously.
HESTER
(joking)
See how everybody has suddenly become hardworking?
They laugh.
CHISOM
(smiling)
Sometimes, pressure produces diamonds.
They continue working.
FADE OUT.
MORAL LESSON
Teamwork requires responsibility.
Silence encourages laziness.
Speak up when something is wrong.
In real life and film production, everyone must do their part.
