First Lady Remi Tinubu Says 2026 Will Bring Peace, Prosperity For Nigeria - 1 month ago

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi (Remi) Tinubu, has ushered in 2026 with messages of hope and renewal, describing the year as one that will be marked by “abundant peace” and “abundant prosperity” for the nation. Kicking off her New Year engagements, she visited the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja, where she welcomed the country’s First Baby of the Year, a girl born at midnight to 26-year-old mother Patience Adakole, and presented gifts to the family. During the visit she also celebrated Blessing Oragwu, who recently welcomed triplets after 13 years of marriage, reinforcing themes of patience and fulfilment as symbolic of the year ahead.

Speaking to journalists, Mrs Tinubu reflected on the significance of the celebrations and thanked Nigerians for entering the new year safely, adding that traditional beliefs about girls bringing “ease” fuel optimism for the months to come. She urged Nigerian women to pursue their dreams with faith and to be generous, saying intentional giving would help foster both individual and national growth in 2026. Accompanied by the Vice-President’s wife and key ministers, her outreach highlighted maternal and child welfare as part of a broader call for unity, faith and compassion in the coming year.
