All-Back Chronicles: In Praise Of The Underrated Hairstyle - 20 hours ago

As I went back to change my hairstyle to this wonderful all-back, I couldn’t help but reflect on the hairstyle I made late last month. I had to crochet extensions and style it to look like a dyed curly low cut.

The pain I went through made me question my life choices 😭. It honestly felt like my head wasn’t mine anymore. The pain is not something to even start explaining, not to talk of the long hours I spent sitting in one spot just to achieve that look. At some point, I could literally hear my head screaming for mercy. The crochet pin was even piercing my scalp at intervals 😩.

The aftermath? I couldn’t touch my head comfortably, I couldn’t move it freely, and sleeping at night became a struggle. My head was literally burning, and there was no perfect position to rest it. It even got to a point where it felt like my scalp had taken over the job of my heart, I could feel it beating like it was pumping blood on its own 😭. I genuinely thought my long-healed soft spot wanted to reopen.

And now… back to all-back 🙃

I honestly think we underrate this hairstyle a lot! We don’t give all-back the credit it truly deserves.

First of all, it’s time-saving you no go sit 4+ hours like some other hairstyles 😭.

Secondly, it’s versatile. There are so many styles: cornrow all-back, sleeping weaving all-back, adimole, and more.

Thirdly, your head will breathe properly 😌 no unnecessary weight, breeze dey enter well well, and if you like, you can even pour water on it without stress 😂.

Fourth, it fits almost every face shape. Na hairstyle wey sabi choose where e belong and less expensive to make.

And last but definitely not least it’s easy to loosen! No long thing, no stress.

Honestly, God bless whoever came up with this beautiful African hairstyle 🙏🏽✨
