Zuri was 28 , beautiful, brilliant, and undeniably gifted. Yet, loneliness clung to her like a shadow. Friends drifted away. Relationships fizzled out. She chalked it up to people being unreliable, fake, or simply not worth her time.

She moved through life with a simmering anger, the kind that showed up uninvited and never quite left. It lashed out in words she didn’t mean, in silences that screamed louder than any fight. People stepped back. One by one, they left tired, hurt, exhausted. Still, Zuri shrugged. “Their loss, not mine.”

Then she met someone different. Not afraid. Not angry. Just… honest. “Maybe your anger is a mask,” they said gently, “for old wounds you’ve buried deep. Pay attention to the patterns the triggers. They’re clues.”

Zuri didn’t appreciate the insight. She pushed back, hard. But subconsciously, her mind replayed the words. Patterns. Triggers. They were there, clear as day. So she started watching. Noticing. Remembering.

Bit by bit, the truth surfaced. Pain from childhood neglect, abandonment, words never spoken had shaped her reactions. She realized healing wasn’t optional if she wanted real joy, real connection.

So she began.

She acknowledged the pain. No more denial.

She identified the roots how certain memories still dictated her present.

She spoke to the little girl inside her. Not with blame, but with compassion. “It wasn’t your fault.”

She forgave. The ones who hurt her. Herself.

She took intentional steps toward healing therapy, journaling, reading, learning to respond rather than react.

She practiced emotional intelligence, setting boundaries, respecting others, and managing her feelings with grace.

She found God again, not as a distant figure but as a healer. She leaned in and let Him work.

Now, Zuri laughs more. Loves better. Listens deeper. She isn’t perfect, but she’s present and that's everything.

Healing is messy. But necessary. Don’t wait. Start now.
