Chapter 2: The Victim's Secrets

Investigator Alex Thompson began her investigation by learning more about the victim. The young woman's name was Sarah Jenkins, a 25-year-old elementary school teacher. Alex spoke with Sarah's family and friends, trying to piece together her final days.

As she dug deeper, Alex discovered that Sarah had been acting strangely in the weeks leading up to her murder. She had become withdrawn and secretive, hinting at a mysterious problem.

"Sarah was a wonderful person, but she had been distant lately," her mother said, tears streaming down her face. "I wish I had pushed her to tell me what was wrong."

Alex's team found a cryptic note in Sarah's apartment: "I can't escape him." The words sent a chill down Alex's spine. Who was Sarah afraid of?

The investigation led Alex to Sarah's workplace, where she interviewed her colleagues. One teacher, Rachel, seemed particularly shaken.

"Sarah was terrified of someone," Rachel revealed. "She wouldn't say who, but it was clear she was in danger."

Alex's mind raced. She had a feeling that Sarah's murder was just the tip of the iceberg.

"What did Sarah say exactly?" Alex pressed Rachel for more information.

"She said she was being watched and that she couldn't shake off the feeling of being in danger," Rachel replied. "She was so scared, Alex. I wish I had done more to help her."

Alex's eyes narrowed. She was determined to find out who had been watching Sarah and why. Little did she know, the truth would lead her down a dark and dangerous path.
