As the European football transfer window prepares to shut its doors on Friday, it seems increasingly evident that Gio Reyna, a standout player for the United States men's national team, will continue his tenure with Borussia Dortmund, despite his limited involvement in the team's lineup.

Sebastian Kehl, the Sporting Director at Dortmund, spoke to Bild on Monday, confirming that no concrete offers have been received for Reyna as the deadline looms. Kehl also suggested that a move away from the club appears to be off the table, stating, "There's no indication that the player is looking to depart."

Kehl further delved into Reyna's growth during the offseason and the possibility of him assuming a more prominent role under the guidance of the new manager, Nuri Şahin, in the upcoming season.

"Reyna needs to embrace his current position and rise above it," Kehl explained. "During our conversations over the summer, it was clear that Gio was prepared to take on this role. We foresee numerous opportunities where we'll need his contributions. We're fully aware of his extraordinary talents.

"He's been focusing on his personal development, enhancing his stability and presence on the field. His knack for smartly positioning himself between opponents and his scoring prowess have both seen improvement. Thus, Gio has the potential to be a pivotal player for us this season."

Reyna recently made his season debut for Dortmund, coming on as a substitute for the last nine minutes in the team's 2-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt. Last season, Reyna featured in 11 games for Dortmund before being loaned to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League during the January transfer window. He returned to Dortmund at the end of the season.

Reyna's contract with Dortmund is set to run until 2026.
