Kingston, a young boy, was on his way back from school so delighted, walking majestically as he had passed the promotion examination and made the best results. He met two children, David who had just made a painting and Samuel, who he was showing the painting. Samuel indiscriminately abuses David's painting. "That's just nonsense" he says to David. Kingston, feeling pity for David approaches them. He tells Samuel "there is a sense in every nonsense. Make your own painting and let's hope it doesn't look like more worse". Left speechless, Samuel has nothing else to say. He leaves in shame. From that day onwards, Kingston and David shared a very strong bond as friends. They vowed to maintain that relationship no matter the cost.

Many years later, after Kingston and David have grown up together, Kingston is invited by his uncle to join a business outside the country. After a lot of effort and arrangement, Kingston is finally ready to leave. Just before he leaves, David approaches him very excited with a piece of well folded paper. He hands the paper to Kingston, "this is my plan for our lives together when get back" David says. Kingston stares at the paper for a while and looks back at David. He tells David "its useless". Everyone, aware of the bond between the two, look astonished. After a moment of silence, Ruth, Kingston's sister asks Kingston "why ?". Kingston stares for a moment and says "Because I may never return. And it won't be of use over there". David, whose mood is already shattered, says, though in disappointment, "Fine. Have a safe trip. Take care of yourself." With these last words, David leaves without saying goodbye. Kingston, though feeling guilty, says nothing. He leaves a note for David before leaving.

Kingston meets his uncle and starts the business. For years the business bloomed and Kingston made a lot of money. Later on, he got married to a young and lovely maiden. She was Lydia by name. Kingston told Lydia about his previous relationship with David and how it broke up within minutes. Lydia suggested that he returned and mended his relationship but he ignored her. As time flew faster than the wind, Lydia and Kingston had children of their own. More responsibility require more earnings. During all these years, David sent letters to Kingston but he ignored all of them. These letters included vital information that David wanted Kingston to know about. Kingston never opened the letters, not to think of reading them. He kept all of them in a small box. Lydia frequently advised Kingston to make effort in mending his relationship with David but he refused. He gave excuses. He said he was too busy with work trying to provide for the children. Not so long after David sent the last of his letters, Kingston's business crashed down to the scratch. It was so astonishing. Kingston couldn't believe that his business would crash so suddenly without a cause, so he made inquiries concerning the crash. After so much inquiries, all he could find out was that a rival firm was confirmed to produce more quality goods, so a famous critic provided so much errors to the public and published them. Kingston was left as speechless as Samuel was years ago when he defended David. For some time, providing family needs was difficult for Kingston. Months after searching for job vacancies, Kingston was finally invited for an interview at one of the largest firms in the country. This was so unbelievable for him because he knew that his image had been shattered. The bad image was the reason for the difficulty in finding employment opportunities.
