Spring in Los Angeles arrives like a mood swing. One week I am buried in knits, the next I am standing in front of my closet wondering why everything suddenly feels too heavy, too dark, too winter. This year, instead of panic-buying the first floral dress I saw, I decided to systematically comb through every major spring 2026 trend and figure out which ones are actually worth inviting into my wardrobe.
The headline for the season is playfulness. Color is back in a big way, from soft baby blues and blush pinks to saturated reds and citrus tones. I am leaning into pieces that feel joyful but polished: a sharp button-up in a pastel stripe, a polo knit that reads more “gallery opening” than “golf course,” and delicate lace trims that peek out from under blazers and denim jackets. Polka dots, once a divisive print, are quietly becoming a new neutral in my rotation, especially in monochrome palettes.
Outerwear is lighter but still intentional. A perfectly broken-in denim jacket remains nonnegotiable, joined by cropped cardigans and sleek zip-up fleeces in unexpected shades like lavender and deep orchid. These are the pieces I reach for on breezy evenings, the ones that make even a simple tank and jeans feel styled.
On the bottom, the Y2K revival has matured. Capris are no longer a punchline; tailored versions in crisp cotton and soft linen are everywhere, and I am officially converted. Light-wash and white denim are my daily drivers, while vintage-inspired sporty pants and linen shorts in muted pastels give that off-duty, European-holiday energy without trying too hard.
Shoes are where the trends get bold. Mule loafers are replacing my heavy boots, wedges are stepping in as the elevated alternative to flat sandals, and sneakers are going maximalist with color and subtle animal prints. I am gravitating toward pairs that can anchor an outfit on their own, whether it is a cherry-red leather wedge or a baby-blue trainer that makes a plain white tee feel intentional.
Accessories are small but impactful. Pouch bags, woven leather, and oversized retro sunglasses are everywhere, but the surprise comeback is the skinny scarf. Worn loose over a tank or knotted at the neck, it adds that final, almost cinematic touch. Toss in a denim-and-gold belt, a well-loved baseball cap, and suddenly even a basic outfit feels editorial.
Beauty is following suit with subtle experimentation: brown mascara for softer definition, lip-liner stains that last through an entire day, and multitasking shimmer sticks that move from cheekbones to eyelids in seconds. The overall effect is effortless, slightly sun-kissed, and quietly polished.
After sifting through the noise, the trends I am actually shopping share one thing: they make getting dressed feel fun again. Spring 2026 is not about reinventing yourself; it is about turning up the volume on who you already are, one baby-pink polo and wedge sandal at a time.
