THE GODFATHER Trilogy - 1 year ago

I once goggled the greatest films of all time and one title kept appearing in every list; The Godfather trilogy.

The Godfather (1972)
The Godfather Part II (1974)
The Godfather Part III (1990)

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola
Inspired by the 1969 Novel of the same name by Italian-American Author Mario Puzo.

The films follow the trials of the fictional Italian-American Mafia Corleone Family whose Patriarch, Vito Corleone rises to be a major figure in American organized crime. His youngest son, Michael Corleone becomes his successor.

I’ve had this movie in my archive for a long time but I kept procrastinating. I decided to see it once and for all. After The Godfather, I immediately downloaded part 2 and 3 (I really wanted to see what became of the Corleone family).
Most people loved the action; I was intrigued by the plot.
A family founded on crime, a blood stained legacy. Michael Corleone was the good son until he was thrust into the crime streak and he became like his father, met the same end like his father; old, sick and alone.
Michael Corleone’s intentions were good but his methods were the complete opposite, peace wasn’t just in the cards for him (whatever a man sows, he will reap). He reaped the bitter fruits of his legacy. That scene with Cardinal Lamberto where he got a chance to make a confession to a priest, I feel that chance was a huge relief for him. He got to unburden a lot from his mind. His sins that rendered him irredeemable (according to him).
The Godfather wanted out but just before he could, his beloved daughter gets caught in the crossfire. A casualty, an undeserved death, it crushed him (I felt it).
His character, a testament that a man’s life is the sole product of the consequences of his actions and inactions.

Great movie, with a lot of “wise words” straight from the 48 laws of power book, sorry, I think Robert Greene got a few anecdotes from this trilogy for his book.  A lot of lessons to be learnt (depending on the angle you lean on).

They had a lot of great actors, some who I never thought were ever young. There was Al Pacino, Marlon Brando Jr., Robert De Niro, Andy Garcia, Lee Strasberg, the performance left me in applause. Kimon!

I enjoy a good story o. Now I know why it’s one of the greatest flicks of all times.
Title undisputed.💯
