Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has strongly condemned the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji Market in Niger State, where suspected armed bandits reportedly killed more than 40 traders and residents and abducted others in the early January assault.

 In a statement issued in Abuja, the lawmaker described the violence as “heartbreaking, senseless and a tragic reminder of the worsening insecurity confronting many Nigerian communities.” 

She expressed deep sympathy for the families of the victims, praying for strength for those who lost loved ones and lamenting the devastation the attack has inflicted on local livelihoods and peace in the region. 

Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the Federal Government and security agencies to swiftly pursue and prosecute those responsible, stressing that citizens deserve protection and that the cycle of violence must not become normalised. 

The senator also emphasised the urgent need for a more proactive, intelligence-led security strategy to safeguard vulnerable rural communities, and reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for justice and improved safety across the country.
