Behind The Mask - 1 year ago

They smile and laugh, a charming disguise,
Fake friends, hiding truth, behind deceitful eyes.
Their words, a sweet melody, a harmonious refrain,
But beneath the surface, a hollow, empty gain.

They flock to your side, when fortune shines bright,
But flee in the shadows, when darkness takes flight.
Their loyalty, a fleeting dream, a moment's delight,
But when the winds of trouble blow, they vanish in the night.

Their conversations, a shallow pool, devoid of depth,
Their interest, a feigned concern, a calculated breath.
They speak of friendship, but know not its true meaning,
For in their hearts, a void exists, a loveless, empty gleaming.

But still, we're drawn to them, like moths to a flame,
Hoping to find genuine connection, but only finding shame.
For when the masks are shed, and true faces revealed,
We see the emptiness, the love that's not concealed.

So let us beware, of those who wear the guise,
And seek true companions, with hearts that realize.
For in the end, it's not the quantity that makes us whole,
But the quality of love, that makes a true friend's soul.
