What If They Ask For A Snake? - 3 months ago

One evening, I sat with my dad and we were talking. I brought up a conversation of a lady that used to attend my church and house fellowship.

Earlier that evening, I had seen her on my way back home, and began to think about many things. She used to be 'fervent' and committed to church and evangelism, and even trekked when she didn't have tp.

Then after a while, she began to withdraw till she totally stopped attending house fellowship, and barely went to church anymore.

I could discern she was fervent and all that because she was seeking God's face for marital settlement, as she was advancing in years.

I was really moved and asked my dad; "why didn't you just answer her and grant her heart desire? Because if there's one thing I know about you, you're gracious and compassionate, abounding in love and highly considerate. You're not intimidated neither does your essence increase or reduce if a person is truly serving or isn't.

I also know you know how to nurture babies, you're meek and will condescend in Glory just to meet a Man at his level. You also said if we ask our earthly dad's for a fish, they're good enough to NOT give us a snake, how much more—You?!"

My dad smiled gently, and asked me a rather strange question; "what if my little children ask for snakes? In my shoes, what would you do?"
