If you had asked the version of me from seven years ago what I thought love was all about, I would have told you it was all about the feelingāthe goosebumps that rise and the way your heart beats so fast whenever you're around that specific human who seems like a treasure before you.
Over the years, I have unlearned, learned, and relearned a lot.
Love isn't the goosebumps you feel.
If love were all about goosebumps, we would keep changing partners every time the feeling faded. Some people would go through ten partners in a single year.
Love is about intentionality.
Love is commitment.
Love is choosing.
Love is not only shown in the good times; it is also revealed in the difficult ones. When things are shaking. When your partner hurts you deeply. When circumstances become uncomfortable.
Love can choose to stay.
Love is about making the conscious decision to hold on, to remain present, and to stay intentional through every season and circumstance.
