The rains poured and the winds raged that night. While everyone scampered for a covering from the rain, there was a curious figure who seemed to embrace the rain. Alex sat on the bench, drenched by the rain. The flowers he got for Angel were there beside him, half of the bouquet had already been blown away by the wind and the other half still on the bench had been destroyed by the harsh water droplets.
The intensity of the rain finally reduced and people started emerging from their shelter. Alex took his phone from his pocket and a notification popped up: “Hey boo, sorry I couldn’t make it this evening. I wasn’t feeling too well” Alex left the flowers on the bench and dragged his feet to the nearest bus stop. After some hours, when he was already comfortable in his bed under his duvet, he decided to check his notifications properly. He saw a video Jennifer posted on her story updates. Angel was there, grinding on another guy, the guy she told Alex not to worry about. Alex felt betrayed. She didn’t show up for their date, with the excuse that she wasn’t feeling too well but there she was, dancing and taking shots like there’s no tomorrow. The familiar feeling of locked chests in the middle of the night resurfaces and now it’s hard to sleep.
“Alex, you’re a beautiful man, why are you obsessing over someone that doesn’t rate you?”
Jennifer poses this question to Alex. It’s few days after the date incident and Jennifer decides to pay Alex a visit at his place. It was an unexpected visit.
“Guyyyy, you’re a full option. Have you seen yourself in the mirror? Tall glass of wine like you.”
Jennifer never missed an opportunity to tell Alex how attractive he was and she did it expertly, hiding her flirtatious motives. She wasn’t lying though. Alex is beautiful. He had the kind of face people kept in a locket. He was at the top of his career and it could only get better; the kind of man that every girl would want to show off to the world. Every girl, except Angel. He had often tried to get into Angel’s head, attempting to understand her motivation for the way she often treated him. Angel had open wounds from her past and whenever she attempted to start something new, the open wounds would bleed and the hurt would return like it never left.
While Alex constantly obsessed over Angel, Jennifer had always been there, as the shoulder to lean on. She wanted to be more but there were certain hindrances. There was Alex’s obvious obsession with Angel. There was the fact that Angel was her best friend and hitting on Alex felt like betraying Angel. Tonight, she decided to throw caution to the wind and go all out for what she wanted. She made Alex comfortable and suddenly, under the influence of the alcohol, Alex saw Jennifer for the beautiful and sensual woman that she was. He saw her eyes, her lips that were begging to be kissed, her chest that was begging to be caressed. He saw it all and he accepted the call. He pounced on her like a wolf and in that pocket of time, amidst the passionate thrusting and moans of ecstasy, Alex loved only Jennifer, even if it was for a few minutes.
